PROJECT IV Bachelor's Thesis |
Krefeld, Germany The design for a recycling plant in Krefeld is rooted in the functional requirements of the recycling process. This young industry's architectural language remains largely undefined, making this project a unique opportunity to shape its identity. Given the substantial dust and dirt generated during the recycling of ash from waste incineration plants, the facility is constructed entirely from robust concrete to ensure durability and resilience over time. Notably, some of the concrete blocks are produced using materials from the plant itself, turning them into a defining feature that embodies the building’s purpose and sustainability ethos. A complementary administrative building echoes this visual language, creating a cohesive and harmonious architectural ensemble. |
